A boy looks for a mask in Quito December 30. Ecuadorans are preparing for an annual tradition for the last day of the year, in which some will dress up to receive the new year. Masks are sold on the streets, some of which are used to make effigies of the country's most important political figures and are burned at the last minute of the old year with a hope of change for the next year.
