FIRE BURNS IN SUGAR CANE FIELDS TO ERADICATE RATS.
A fire burns in sugar cane fields after being set alight by farmers in
an attempt to eradicate rats which feed on the cane near Tamarin on the
West coast of Mauritius November 10, 2003. The sugar cane crop used to
be the mainstay of the Mauritian economy, but the recent rise of
textile and tourism industries has relieved the pressure on the sugar
industry which is vulnerable to changing world prices and cyclones.NO RIGHTS CLEARANCES OR PERMISSIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS IMAGE
